5 Things to do in Arizona

This spring, I travelled to Arizona. It was my first time visiting this state and our few days there were packed full of adventure. There are so many incredible things to do in Arizona, but in this post I have narrowed it down to 5 activities that are suitable for all ages.

WATCH THE SUNRISE OR SUNSET AT HORSESHOE BEND

Located near Page Arizona, Horseshoe Bend is an incredible attraction formed by the Colorado River. We went to Horseshoe Bend for the sunset, the walk is only 1.5 miles round trip making it a nice spot to stop and enjoy the sunset. Despite the crowds of tourists, it is still an incredible place to watch the sunset, relax and take a few breath taking photos.

WALK THROUGH LOWER ANTELOPE CANYON

When visiting Arizona, we didn’t realize the cost to visit the Antelope Canyons. After talking to locals and other tourists, we were swayed to visit the Lower Antelope Canyon, rather than the Upper Canyon. The Lower Antelope Canyon, is less busy and cheaper than the Upper Antelope Canyon. The main downfall to the Lower Canyon, is the light beams do not sine through the Canyon as they do in the Upper Canyon. There are also stairs to access the Lower Antelope Canyon, making it less accessible than the Upper Canyon. Despite these drawbacks, the Lower Antelope Canyon was such an incredible experience. The colours of the canyon walls are a fiery orange, creating shapes and swirls. I recommend going early in the morning as the sun won’t be too bright, and there will be a lot less tourists.

VISIT THE DESERT BOTANICAL GARDEN

The Desert Botanical Gardens was one of our first stops when we got to Arizona. Located in Phoenix it is a great way to see the nature Arizona has to offer. With paths throughout the park, you can spend hours here admiring the different plants and flowers. (Be sure to bring your student card for a discount).

WATCH THE SUNSET IN SAGUARO NATIONAL PARK

On our last night we went to Saguaro National Park. It is a park that you can walk through as well as drive down some of the trails. It is a great spot to watch the sunset, and you will giant saguaro cacti.
